Abstract  Abstract

DATA TRANSMISSION WITH SPATIAL SPREAD IN A MIMO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. For spatially spread data transmission, a transmission entity (1) encodes and modulates each data packet to obtain a corresponding data symbol block, (2) multiplexes the corresponding data symbol blocks, (2) multiplexes the blocks of data symbol in Ns, data symbol streams for transmission in Ns transmission channels of a MIMO channel, (3) spatially spreads Ns, data symbol streams with targeting matrices, and (4) spatially processes Ns, scattered symbol streams for total Ns CSI transmission, automodes or partial Ns CSI transmission, spatial channels of the MIMO channel. A receiving entity (1) obtains NR symbol streams received through NR receiving antennas, (2) performs receiver spatial processing for full CSI transmission or partial CSI transmission to obtain Ns detected symbol streams, (3) scatters spatially the Ns symbol streams detected with the same targeting matrices used by the transmitting entity to obtain Ns retrieved symbol streams, and (4) demodulates and decodes each retrieved symbol block to obtain a corresponding decoded data packet.
