Abstract  Abstract

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ENCODING / DECODING THE TRANSPORT FORMAT COMBINATION INDICATOR IN A CDMA MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. A device and method for encoding / decoding a transport format combination indicator (TFCI) in a CDMA mobile communication system. In the TFCI coding device, the one-bit generator generates a sequence having the same symbols. A base orthogonal sequence generator generates a plurality of base orthogonal sequences. A base mask sequence generator generates a plurality of base mask sequences. An operation unit receives TFCI bits that are divided into a first piece of information that represents the conversion of bi-orthogonal sequence, a second piece of information that represents the conversion of orthogonal sequence, and a third piece of information that represents the conversion of mask sequence and combines a selected orthogonal sequence from the base orthogonal sequence based on the second information, a bi-orthogonal sequence obtained by combining the selected orthogonal sequence with the same symbols selected based on the first piece of information, and a selected mask sequence based on the bi-orthogonal sequence and the third piece of information, thus generating a TFCI sequence.
