Disclosed are a method, UE and system for detecting a discovery message. The method comprises: according to a predetermined correlation between information about a discovery sequence and a discovery message format, the discovery message format being indicated by a base station, or a predetermined correlation between a physical resource and the discovery message format, a discovering UE determining a discovery message format of a discovered UE, and then, detecting a discovery message sent by the discovered UE according to the determined discovery message format. In the technical solution provided in the embodiments of the present invention, a discovery message format is firstly determined, and then a discovery message is detected according to the discovery message format, so that there is no need to conduct a blind test on all possible discovery message formats, thereby reducing the detection complexity of the discovery message.
