Abstract  Abstract

A method and an apparatus for generating a Reference Signal (RS) are disclosed by the present invention which belong to the field of communications. The method includes that: a User Equipment (UE) receives signaling which carries RS solution information and is sent by a base station there exists at least one mapping relation among the RS solution information orthogonal code configuration information and a hopping pattern and the at least one mapping relation is prestored in the base station and the UE; and the UE generates the RS after determining the corresponding orthogonal code configuration information and the hopping pattern according to the received RS solution information and the stored at least one mapping relation. In the present invention the base station and the UE prestore the mapping relation among the RS solution information the orthogonal code configuration information and the hopping pattern and the UE generates the RS after determining the corresponding orthogonal code configuration information and the hopping pattern according to the RS solution information sent by the base station and thus the hopping pattern is transmitted without additional system signaling overhead and orthogonality is guaranteed between RSs generated by different UEs in all kinds of scenarios.
