An integrated circuit includes logic configured to encode pilot signals in a first set of subcarriers (604) of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol and in a second set of subcarriers of a consecutive OFDM symbol. The symbol and the consecutive symbol are in the same smart-utility-network packet (606).
