Abstract  Abstract

Methods and apparatus for improved Multiple Users Reusing One Slot (MUROS) operation include two or more wireless transmit/receive units (WTRU) multiplexed onto multiple sub-channels in a single timeslot. Addressing information included in layer two headers Radio Resource Control (RRC) messages and layer one parameters in a SACCH/FACCH transmission indicate that the transmission is intended for a particular WTRU. A FACCH transmission may be sent on a sub-channel reserved for another WTRU. Stealing bits in a voice frame may be set to indicate that the FACCH transmission is intended for a WTRU on the sub-channel reserved for another WTRU. Different WTRUs in a multiplexed group may be configured to decode layer one parameters in a SAACH according to alternating patterns.
