A method for sending short message in a trunking communication system includes steps: the network configures a short message transfer channel for the user in group call state; the user terminal sends short message via the short message transfer channel; the network send acknowledge message to the user terminal after the short message sending completes. With the invention the user could achieve the short message sending safely and duly without exiting the group call.
