Claim
1. A self-configuration method implemented in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) evolved NodeB (eNB), the method comprising:
subsequent to an authentication of the eNB with a core network, receiving, by the eNB, first parameters from the core network, wherein the first parameters are configuration parameters for the eNB;
transmitting to and receiving from, another eNB via an inter-station interface, authentication information; and
subsequent to an authentication of the eNB and the another eNB using the authentication information, receiving, by the eNB, second parameters via the inter-station interface, wherein the second parameters are about the another eNB.
2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
configuring the inter-station interface based on the first parameters.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the second parameters include at least one of:
location information of the another eNB,
a cell-Id associated with each of a plurality of cells served by the another eNB,
service operator's identity or home public land mobile network (PLMN) Id,
eNB measurement or measurement group/association information of the another eNB,
radio parameters for each cell served by the another eNB, and
service parameters for each cell served by the another eNB.
4. The method of claim 3, wherein the radio parameters for each cell served by the another eNB includes at least one of:
frequency band(s) served,
cell transmit bandwidth,
power control information,
baseline cell common channel configurations,
Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) and directional antenna information,
Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) over a Single Frequency Network (MBMS SFN) information,
current operation status, and
MBMS resource information.
5. The method of claim 3, wherein the service parameters for each cell served by the another eNB includes at least one of:
MBMS information,
location services information, and
common system information shared among eNBs served by the another eNB.
6. The method of claim 1, further comprising before the step of receiving the first parameters:
subsequent to the authentication of the eNB with the core network, transmitting, by the eNB to the core network, a request for the first parameters.
7. The method of claim 1, further comprising before the step of receiving the second parameters:
subsequent to the authentication of the eNB and the another eNB using the authentication information, transmitting, by the eNB to the another eNB, a request for the second parameters.
8. The method of claim 1, wherein the authentication information at least includes a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address and wherein the authentication of the eNB with the another eNB uses the unique IP address.
9. The method of claim 1, wherein the authentication of the eNB with the another eNB includes either a handshake or paired request and response messages.
10. The method of claim 1, wherein the inter-station interface is an X2 interface.
11. A Long Term Evolution (LTE) evolved NodeB (eNB) comprising:
a first interface;
a second interface; and
a processor communicatively coupled to the first interface and the second interface;
wherein the processor:
subsequent to an authentication of the eNB with a core network, receives first parameters from the core network via the first interface, wherein the first parameters are configuration parameters for the eNB;
transmits to and receives from, another eNB via the second interface, authentication information; and
subsequent to an authentication of the eNB and the another eNB using the authentication information, receives second parameters via the second interface, wherein the second parameters are about the another eNB.
12. The eNB of claim 11, wherein the processor further:
configures the second interface based on the first parameters.
13. The eNB of claim 11, wherein the second parameters include at least one of:
location information of the another eNB,
a cell-Id associated with each of a plurality of cells served by the another eNB,
service operator's identity or home public land mobile network (PLMN) Id,
eNB measurement or measurement group/association information of the another eNB,
radio parameters for each cell served by the another eNB, and
service parameters for each cell served by the another eNB.
14. The eNB claim 13, wherein the radio parameters for each cell served by the another eNB includes at least one of:
frequency band(s) served,
cell transmit bandwidth,
power control information,
baseline cell common channel configurations,
Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) and directional antenna information,
Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) over a Single Frequency Network (MBMS SFN) information,
current operation status, and
MBMS resource information.
15. The eNB of claim 13, wherein service parameters for each cell served by the another eNB includes at least one of:
MBMS information,
location services information, and
common system information shared among eNBs served by the another eNB.
16. The eNB of claim 11, wherein the processor further:
subsequent to the authentication of the eNB with the core network, transmits, to the core network via the first interface, a request for the first parameters.
17. The eNB of claim 11, wherein the processor further:
subsequent to the authentication of the eNB and the another eNB using the authentication information, transmits, to the another eNB via the second interface, a request for the second parameters.
18. The eNB of claim 11, wherein the authentication information at least includes a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address and wherein the authentication of the eNB with the another eNB uses the unique IP address.
19. The eNB of claim 11, wherein the authentication of the eNB with the another eNB includes either a handshake or paired request and response messages.
20. The eNB of claim 11, wherein the second interface is an X2 interface.
21. A wireless communication system, the wireless communication system comprising:
a plurality of Long Term Evolution (LTE) evolved NodeBs (eNBs);
wherein each of the plurality of eNBs:
subsequent to an authentication of the eNB with a core network, receives first parameters from the core network, wherein the first parameters are configuration parameters for the eNB;
transmits to and receives from, another eNB from the plurality of eNBs via an inter-station interface, authentication information; and
subsequent to an authentication of the eNB and the another eNB using the authentication information, receives second parameters via the inter-station interface, wherein the second parameters are about the another eNB.
22. The wireless communication system of claim 21, wherein each of the plurality of eNBs further:
configures the inter-station interface based on the first parameters.
23. The wireless communication system of claim 21, wherein the second parameters include at least one of:
location information of the another eNB,
a cell-Id associated with each of a plurality of cells served by the another eNB,
service operator's identity or home public land mobile network (PLMN) Id,
eNB measurement or measurement group/association information of the another eNB,
radio parameters for each cell served by the another eNB, and
service parameters for each cell served by the another eNB.
24. The wireless system of claim 23, wherein the radio parameters for each cell served by the another eNB includes at least one of:
frequency band(s) served,
cell transmit bandwidth,
power control information,
baseline cell common channel configurations,
Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) and directional antenna information,
Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) over a Single Frequency Network (MBMS SFN) information,
current operation status, and

25. The wireless communication system of claim 23, wherein service parameters for each cell served by the another eNB includes at least one of:
MBMS information,
location services information, and
common system information shared among eNBs served by the another eNB.
26. The wireless communication system of claim 21, wherein each of the plurality of eNBS further:
subsequent to the authentication of the eNB with the core network, transmits, to the core network, a request for the first parameters.
27. The wireless communication system of claim 21, where in each of the plurality of eNBS further:
subsequent to the authentication of the eNB and the another eNB using the authentication information, transmits, to the another eNB, a request for the second parameters.
28. The wireless communication system of claim 21, wherein the authentication information at least includes a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address and wherein the authentication of the eNB with the another eNB uses the unique IP address.
29. The wireless communication system of claim 21, wherein the authentication of the eNB with the another eNB includes either a handshake or paired request and response messages.
30. The wireless communication system of claim 21, wherein the inter-station interface is an X2 interface.
31. A method of operating a wireless communication system including a plurality of Long Term Evolution (LTE) evolved NodeBs (eNBs), the method comprising:
wherein each of the plurality of eNBs:
subsequent to an authentication of the eNB with a core network, receiving first parameters from the core network, wherein the first parameters are configuration parameters for the eNB;
transmitting to and receiving from, another eNB from the plurality of eNBs via an inter-station interface, authentication information; and
subsequent to an authentication of the eNB and the another eNB using the authentication information, receiving second parameters via the inter-station interface, wherein the second parameters are about the another eNB.
32. The method of claim 31, wherein each of the plurality of eNBs further:
configuring the inter-station interface based on the first parameters.
33. The method of claim 31, wherein the second parameters include at least one of:
location information of the another eNB,
a cell-Id associated with each of a plurality of cells served by the another eNB,
service operator's identity or home public land mobile network (PLMN) Id,
eNB measurement or measurement group/association information of the another eNB,
radio parameters for each cell served by the another eNB, and
service parameters for each cell served by the another eNB.
34. The method of claim 33, wherein the radio parameters for each cell served by the another eNB includes at least one of:
frequency band(s) served,
cell transmit bandwidth,
power control information,

subsequent to the authentication of the eNB with the core network, transmitting, to the core network, a request for the first parameters.
37. The method of claim 31, where in each of the plurality of eNBS further:
subsequent to the authentication of the eNB and the another eNB using the authentication information, transmitting, to the another eNB, a request for the second parameters.
38. The method of claim 31, wherein the authentication information at least includes a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address and wherein the authentication of the eNB with the another eNB uses the unique IP address.
39. The method of claim 31, wherein the authentication of the eNB with the another eNB includes either a handshake or paired request and response messages.
40. The method of claim 31, wherein the inter-station interface is an X2 interface.
