receiving transmission from the WTRU in the enhanced uplink in accordance with the maximum resource allocation and the initial serving grant.
4. The method of claim 1, further comprising broadcasting at least one of:
a maximum transmission rate that can be used for transmitting a random access channel (RACH) frame;
a maximum power that can be used for transmitting the RACH frame;
a maximum ratio of a RACH data part power to a power of a preamble;
an absolute maximum total power for transmission of the RACH frame;
a maximum power for transmission of the RACH frame relative to the power of a preamble;
a maximum RACH transport block size; or
a transmission time interval (TTI) size.
5. A network entity comprising:
a processor configured to:
allocate resources for a wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) to transmit data in an enhanced uplink; and
broadcast an indication of a maximum resource allocation and an indication of an initial serving grant to the WTRU.
6. The network entity of claim 5, wherein the maximum resource allocation indicates a maximum amount of transmission time.
7. The network entity of claim 5, wherein the processor is further configured to:
receive transmission from the WTRU in the enhanced uplink in accordance with the maximum resource allocation and the initial serving grant.
8. The network entity of claim 5, wherein the processor is further configured to:
broadcast at least one of:
a maximum transmission rate that can be used for transmitting a random access channel (RACH) frame;
a maximum power that can be used for transmitting the RACH frame;
a maximum ratio of a RACH data part power to a power of a preamble;
an absolute maximum total power for transmission of the RACH frame;
a maximum power for transmission of the RACH frame relative to the power of a preamble;
a maximum RACH transport block size; or
a transmission time interval (TTI) size.
9. A method comprising:
sending a first set of available signatures reserved for random access channel (RACH) and a second set of available signatures reserved for enhanced uplink transmissions;
receiving a preamble from a wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU); and
determining whether the WTRU is requesting enhanced uplink transmission resources based on whether the received preamble comprises a signature in the second set of available signatures.
10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:
upon determining that the WTRU is requesting enhanced uplink transmission resources, allocating resources for the WTRU to transmit in an enhanced uplink.
11. The method of claim 9, wherein it is determined that the WTRU is requesting enhanced uplink transmission resources when the received preamble comprises a signature in the second set of available signatures.
12. The method of claim 9, wherein it is determined that the WTRU is not requesting uplink transmission resources when the received preamble comprises a signature in the first set of available signatures.
13. The method of claim 9, further comprising:
sending a first set preamble scrambling codes reserved for random access channel (RACH) and a second set of scrambling codes reserved for an enhanced uplink.
14. The method of claim 13, wherein the preamble is received via a preamble scrambling code in the second set of scrambling codes when WTRU is requesting enhanced uplink transmission resources.
15. A network entity comprising:
a processor configured to:
send a first set of available signatures reserved for random access channel (RACH) and a second set of available signatures reserved for enhanced uplink transmissions;
receive a preamble from a wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU); and
determine whether the WTRU is requesting enhanced uplink transmission resources based on whether the received preamble comprises a signature in the second set of available signatures.
16. The network entity of claim 15, wherein the processor is further configured to:
upon determining that the WTRU is requesting enhanced uplink transmission resources, allocate resources for the WTRU to transmit in an enhanced uplink.
17. The network entity of claim 15, wherein it is determined that the WTRU is requesting enhanced uplink transmission resources when the received preamble comprises a signature in the second set of available signatures.
18. The network entity of claim 15, wherein it is determined that the WTRU is not requesting uplink transmission resources when the received preamble comprises a signature in the first set of available signatures.
19. The network entity of claim 15, wherein the processor is further configured to:
send a first set preamble scrambling codes reserved for random access channel (RACH) and a second set of scrambling codes reserved for an enhanced uplink.
20. The network entity of claim 19, wherein the preamble is received via a preamble scrambling code in the second set of scrambling codes when WTRU is requesting enhanced uplink transmission resources.
