Abstract
Method and apparatus for providing information to a network are disclosed. An eNodeB (eNB) may receive pattern information relating to connection state management behavior of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The eNB may receive this information over S1 signaling when a connection is established. The eNB may determine a time factor for connection state management, wherein the time factor may be based on the received information. The determine time factor may be used to adjust connection states of the WTRU.

Claim
1. A method implemented by a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
monitoring for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission of a cell, wherein the PDCCH transmission includes downlink control information (DCI); receiving a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission of the cell based on the PDCCH transmission, wherein the PDSCH transmission includes data; transmitting channel quality indicators (CQIs) that are based on measurements of the cell; receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message or a layer one control signal wherein the RRC message or layer one control signal indicates to cease monitoring for any PDCCH transmissions of the cell; and continuing transmitting the CQIs that are based on measurements of the cell in response to receiving the RRC message or layer one control signal with the indication to cease monitoring.
2. The method of claim 13, wherein the received RRC message or layer one control signal indicates to enter a dormant mode for the cell.
3. The method of claim 2, further comprising entering the dormant mode for the cell based on a timer.
4. The method of claim 2, wherein the layer one control signal comprises DCI, and at least one bit of the DCI indicates for the WTRU to enter a dormant mode for the cell.
5. The method of claim 2, wherein the dormant mode for the cell provides power savings for the WTRU.
6. The method of claim 13, wherein monitoring for the PDCCH transmission of the cell for DCI is performed in an RRC_Connected mode.
7. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the WTRU comprising:
a transceiver operatively connected to a processor, the transceiver and processor configured to monitor for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission of a cell, wherein the PDCCH transmission includes downlink control information (DCI); the transceiver and processor configured to receive a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission of the cell based on the PDCCH transmission, wherein the PDSCH transmission includes data; the transceiver and processor configured to transmit channel quality indicators (CQIs) that are based on measurements of the cell; the transceiver and processor configured to receive a radio resource control (RRC) message or a layer one control signal wherein the RRC message or layer one control signal indicates to cease monitoring for any PDCCH transmissions of the cell; and the transceiver and processor configured to continue transmitting the CQIs that are based on measurements of the cell in response to receiving the RRC message or layer one control signal with the indication to cease monitoring.
8. The WTRU of claim 14, wherein the received RRC message or layer one control signal indicate to enter a dormant mode for the cell.
9. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the transceiver and processor are configured to enter the dormant mode for the cell based on a timer.
10. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the layer one control signal comprises DCI and at least one bit of the DCI indicates for the WTRU to enter a dormant mode for the cell.
11. The WTRU of claim 8, wherein the dormant mode for the cell provides power savings for the WTRU.
12. The WTRU of claim 14, wherein the monitoring for the PDCCH transmission with the DCI is performed while the WTRU is in an RRC Connected mode.
13. The method of claim 1, further comprising ceasing the monitoring of the PDCCH in response to the received RRC message or layer one control signal with the indication to cease monitoring.
14. The WTRU of claim 7, wherein the transceiver and processor are configured to cease the monitoring of the PDCCH in response to the received RRC message or layer one control signal with the indication to cease monitoring.
