Abstract
A method and apparatus for transmitting a buffer status report. The apparatus measures an amount of data in logical channel buffers and determines a field value for a buffer status report field, the field value being selected from a first value or a second value. The first value has a first value range and the second value has a second value range different than the first value range. The apparatus then produces a buffer status report including the determined field value and transmit the buffer status report.

Claim
1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
a processor configured to measure an amount of data in logical channel buffers and determine a field value for a buffer status report field, wherein the field value is selected from a first value or a second value, wherein the first value has a first value range and the second value has a second value range different than the first value range; and the processor is further configured to produce a buffer status report including the determined field value; and a transmitter configured to transmit the buffer status report.
2. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the first value or the second value is selected based on the logical channels to be reported.
3. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the processor produces the buffer status report in response to a trigger condition.
4. The WTRU of claim 3 wherein the trigger condition includes the expiration of a timer.
5. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the processor is further configured to limit logical channels for triggering conditions associated with scheduling information in response to radio resource control (RRC) restricting channel reporting.
6. A method for use in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
measuring an amount of data in logical channel buffers and determine a field value for a buffer status report field, wherein the field value is selected from a first value or a second value, wherein the first value has a first value range and the second value has a second value range different than the first value range; and producing a buffer status report including the determined field value; and transmit the buffer status report.
7. The method of claim 6 wherein the first value or the second value is selected based on the logical channels to be reported.
8. The method of claim 6 wherein the processor produces the buffer status report in response to a trigger condition.
9. The method of claim 8 wherein the trigger condition includes the expiration of a timer.
10. The method of claim 6 wherein the processor is further configured to limit logical channels for triggering conditions associated with scheduling information in response to radio resource control (RRC) restricting channel reporting.
