Abstract
Methods and apparatus for power scaling for multi-carrier wireless terminals are disclosed. Methods and mechanisms are provided for power scaling when a multi-carrier WTRU reaches its maximum output power.

Claim
1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
a processor configured to determine transmission power levels for a plurality of uplink carriers, wherein the plurality of uplink carriers includes a first uplink carrier, wherein the first uplink carrier includes uplink control information, wherein on a condition that an uplink maximum transmission power level will be exceeded, scaling, with a same scaling factor, other uplink carriers of the plurality of uplink carriers, and not scaling the first uplink carrier; and a transmitter configured to transmit a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission on each of the other uplink carriers at the determined transmission power levels and to transmit a PUSCH on the first uplink carrier.
2. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) is transmitted on the first uplink carrier.
3. The WTRU of claim 2 wherein a transmission power level of the PUCCH is not scaled on a condition that the uplink maximum transmission power level will be exceeded.
4. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the first uplink carrier is an anchor carrier and the other uplink carriers are supplemental carriers.
5. The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the processor is further configured on a condition that the maximum transmission power level will be exceeded after scaling the other uplink carriers, the first uplink carrier has its transmission power level scaled.
6. A method for use in a wireless/transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
determining transmission power levels for a plurality of uplink carriers, wherein the plurality of uplink carriers includes a first uplink carrier, wherein the first uplink carrier includes uplink control information, wherein on a condition that an uplink maximum transmission power level will be exceeded, scaling, with a same scaling factor, other uplink carriers of the plurality of uplink carriers, and not scaling the first uplink carrier; and transmitting a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission on each of the other uplink carriers at the determined transmission power levels and transmitting a PUSCH on the first uplink carrier.
7. The method of claim 6 wherein a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) is transmitted on the first uplink carrier.
8. The method of claim 7 wherein a transmission power level of the PUCCH is not scaled on a condition that the uplink maximum transmission power level will be exceeded.
9. The method of claim 6 wherein the first uplink carrier is an anchor carrier and the other uplink carriers are supplemental carriers.
10. The method of claim 6 further comprising, on a condition that the maximum transmission power level will be exceeded after scaling the other uplink carriers, scaling transmission power level of the first uplink carrier.
