Abstract
Methods and systems are disclosed for providing physical layer resources to a plurality of medium access control (MAC) instances that are associated with different serving sites that are independently scheduled. For example, a WTRU may utilize a first physical layer configuration for transmitting to a first serving site associated with a first MAC instance. The WTRU may utilize a second physical layer configuration for transmitting to a second serving site associated with a second MAC instance. The WTRU may prevent conflicts between transmission requests from the first MAC instance and transmission requests from the second MAC instance. For example, preventing the conflicts may include utilizing one or more of time segregation or frequency segregation for transmissions associated with the first MAC instance and transmissions associated with the second MAC instance.

Claim
A method implemented by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
the WTRU utilizing a first physical layer configuration for transmissions associated with a first medium access control (MAC) instance; the WTRU utilizing a second physical layer configuration for transmissions associated with a second MAC instance; the WTRU allocating first transmission power for a first transmission sent via the first MAC instance and a second transmission power for a second transmission sent via the second MAC instance, wherein the first and second transmissions at least partially overlap in time, and at least a portion of one or more of the first transmission power or the second transmission power is allocated based on one or more priority rules related to the first transmission sent via the first MAC instance and the second transmission sent via the second MAC instance; and the WTRU transmitting the first and second transmissions.
2. The method as in claim 1, wherein the one or more priority rules comprise a tiered set of priority rules.
3. The method as in claim 2, wherein a first tiered priority rule comprises prioritizing a transmission that includes uplink control information (UCI) over a transmission that does not include UCI.
4. The method as in claim 3, wherein a second tiered priority rule comprises prioritizing a transmission that includes a first type of UCI over a transmission that includes a second type of UCI.
5. The method as in claim 4, wherein the first type of UCI comprises hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback and the second type of UCI comprises channel quality information (CQI).
6. The method as in claim 5, wherein a third tiered priority rule comprises prioritizing a transmission associated with a primary MAC instance over a transmission associated with a secondary MAC instance.
7. The method as in claim 1, wherein the first transmission associated with the first MAC instance is transmitted to a first serving site and the second transmission associated with the second MAC instance is transmitted to a second serving site.
8. The method as in claim 7, wherein the first transmission is scheduled via a first uplink grant received from the first serving site and the second transmission is scheduled via a second uplink received from the second serving site.
9. The method as in claim 1, wherein the transmissions associated with the first MAC instance are sent via a first group of one or more cells and the transmissions associated with the second MAC instance are sent via a second group of one or more cells.
10. The method as in claim 1, wherein the WTRU is configured with a maximum transmission power for simultaneous overlapping transmissions associated with the first and second MAC instances.
11. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
a processor configured to:
utilize a first physical layer configuration for transmissions associated with a first medium access control (MAC) instance,
utilize a second physical layer configuration for transmissions associated with a second MAC instance, and
allocate first transmission power for a first transmission sent via the first MAC instance and a second transmission power for a second transmission sent via the second MAC instance, wherein the first and second transmissions at least partially overlap in time, and at least a portion of one or more of the first transmission power or the second transmission power is allocated based on one or more priority rules related to the first transmission sent via the first MAC instance and the second transmission sent via the second MAC instance; and
a transmitter configured to transmit the first and second transmissions.
12. The WTRU as in claim 11, wherein the one or more priority rules comprise a tiered set of priority rules.
13. The WTRU as in claim 12, wherein a first tiered priority rule comprises prioritizing a transmission that includes uplink control information (UCI) over a transmission that does not include UCI.
14. The WTRU as in claim 13, wherein a second tiered priority rule comprises prioritizing a transmission that includes a first type of UCI over a transmission that includes a second type of UCI.
15. The WTRU as in claim 14, wherein the first type of UCI comprises hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback and the second type of UCI comprises channel quality information (CQI).
16. The WTRU as in claim 15, wherein a third tiered priority rule comprises prioritizing a transmission associated with a primary MAC instance over a transmission associated with a secondary MAC instance.
17. The WTRU as in claim 11, wherein the first transmission associated with the first MAC instance is transmitted to a first serving site and the second transmission associated with the second MAC instance is transmitted to a second serving site.
18. The WTRU as in claim 17, wherein the first transmission is scheduled via a first uplink grant received from the first serving site and the second transmission is scheduled via a second uplink received from the second serving site.
19. The WTRU as in claim 11, wherein the transmissions associated with the first MAC instance are sent via a first group of one or more cells and the transmissions associated with the second MAC instance are sent via a second group of one or more cells.
20. The WTRU as in claim 11, wherein the WTRU is configured with a maximum transmission power for simultaneous overlapping transmissions associated with the first and second MAC instances.
