Abstract
Methods, devices, and systems for multi-carrier network operation are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of performing channel scrambling in a multi-carrier network, wherein the multi-carrier network includes a first component carrier (CC) and a second CC between a base station and a user equipment (UE) comprises receiving a Cell Radio Network Temporary Identifier (C-RNTI) and a cell identification (ID) for at least one of the first CC and the second CC; and using the RNTI and the cell ID to perform scrambling of information transmitted on at least one of the first CC and the second CC.

Claim
1-27. (canceled)
28. A base station, comprising:
one or more hardware processors; a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium coupled to the one or more processors and storing programming instructions for execution by the one or more processors, the programming instructions instruct the one or more processors to:
assign, to a user equipment (UE), a Cell Radio Network Temporary Identity (C-RNTI);
transmit, to the UE, a component carrier assignment message via a first component carrier different from a second component carrier, the component carrier assignment message identifies the second component carrier, indicates whether the second component carrier is a control channel monitoring component carrier, and includes a physical cell identity (PCI) of the second component carrier;
scramble information for the UE with a scrambling sequence based on the C-RNTI and the PCI; and
transmit, to the UE, the scrambled information using the second component carrier.
29. The base station of claim 28, wherein at least one of the first component carrier or the second component carrier is a cell.
30. The base station of claim 28, wherein the first component carrier is an anchor component carrier.
31. The base station of claim 28, wherein the second component carrier is a non-anchor component carrier.
32. The base station of claim 28, wherein the first component carrier is a member of at least one of a set of active component carriers or a set of assigned component carriers.
33. The base station of claim 28, wherein the second component carrier is a member of at least one of a set of active component carriers or a set of assigned component carriers.
34. The base station of claim 28, wherein the C-RNTI is used to perform channel scrambling on the first component carrier and the second component carrier.
35. The base station of claim 28, wherein the base station does not transmit a synchronization signal on the second component carrier.
36. The base station of claim 28, wherein the component carrier assignment message is transmitted using a Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling.
37. The base station of claim 28, wherein performing scrambling on the second component carrier includes scrambling at least one of a control channel or a traffic channel of the second component carrier.
38. A method, comprising:
assigning, to a user equipment (UE), a Cell Radio Network Temporary Identity (C-RNTI); transmitting, to the UE, a component carrier assignment message via a first component carrier different from a second component carrier, the component carrier assignment message identifies the second component carrier, indicates whether the second component carrier is a control channel monitoring component carrier, and includes a physical cell identity (PCI) of the second component carrier; scrambling information for the UE with a scrambling sequence based on the C-RNTI and the PCI; and transmitting, to the UE, the scrambled information using the second component carrier.
39. The method of claim 38, wherein at least one of the first component carrier or the second component carrier is a cell.
40. The method of claim 38, wherein the first component carrier is an anchor component carrier.
41. The method of claim 38, wherein the second component carrier is a non-anchor component carrier.
42. The method of claim 38, wherein the first component carrier is a member of at least one of a set of active component carriers or a set of assigned component carriers.
43. The method of claim 38, wherein the second component carrier is a member of at least one of a set of active component carriers or a set of assigned component carriers.

48. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions to cause a processor to perform operations comprising:
assigning, to a user equipment (UE), a Cell Radio Network Temporary Identity (C-RNTI); transmitting, to the UE, a component carrier assignment message via a first component carrier different from a second component carrier, the component carrier assignment message identifies the second component carrier, indicates whether the second component carrier is a control channel monitoring component carrier, and includes a physical cell identity (PCI) of the second component carrier; scrambling information for the UE with a scrambling sequence based on the C-RNTI and the PCI; and transmitting, to the UE, the scrambled information using the second component carrier.
