Abstract  Abstract

A wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) is contemplated that communicates with a base station (or base node) and a wireless network that may include a cell that may be in a dormant mode. The WTRU may determine if the WTRU is adjacent to the cell and generate a report that includes one or more measurements related to the location of the WTRU. The WTRU may send a report to the network and receive an indication to perform one or more measurements associated with the cell. One or more measurements associated with the cell may include a common pilot channel (CPICH), a synchronization channel (SCH), and / or a broadcast channel (primary) transmitted by the cell according to instructions from the base node. It will be based on the Primary Common Control Physical Channel (BCH P-CCPCH).
