Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for time-based FANR operation using enhanced general packet radio service 2 uplink (HUGE).

SOLUTION: A WTRU makes settings so that downlink FANR operation and EGPRS-2 mode uplink transmission can be prevented from competing with each other. MCS in EGPRS-2 mode can be restricted to the MCS including two RLC data blocks at the maximum. Alternatively when the EGPRS-2 mode competes therewith three or more PAN bits can be used for time-based FANR. Alternatively at least one PAN bit can display ACK/NACK for a group of RLC data block. The number of the PAN bits of the time-based FANR operation can be set by a network. Between time basis and SSN basis the downlink FANR operation can be switched to dynamic.
