Abstract  Abstract

To provide methods and apparatuses for performing wireless communication in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) for multi-radio access technology (RAT) operation.SOLUTION: A communication system includes the steps of: receiving a message on a first cell using a first RAT, and receiving an RRC reconfiguration message on the first cell. The RRC reconfiguration message includes first information instructing a WTRU that it uses the first RAT and uses a second cell, and second information instructing that it uses a second RAT different from the first RAT and uses a third cell. A method includes the steps of: in response to receiving the first information, starting a first random access procedure on the second cell using the first RAT; and in response to receiving the second information, starting a second random access procedure on the third cell using the second RAT.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
