Abstract  Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for improving the DRX operation of a user equipment by introducing an additional DRX wakeup cycle that operates in parallel with a short DRX cycle or a long DRX cycle or both. In the DRX wakeup cycle, a time interval is defined, after which the user equipment starts monitoring the PDCCH over the wakeup period. The user equipment does not perform another operation other than monitoring the PDCCH during the wake-up period. The time interval of the wake-up cycle between the wake-up periods is preferably shorter than the time interval of the long DRX cycle, and may have a length equal to or shorter than the time interval of the short DRX cycle. . The wake-up period is preferably as long as the on-period of the short / long DRX cycle or is much shorter (eg, only one or a few subframes). (Selection) Figure 11
