PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for allocating IP addresses for MTC (Machine Type Communication) devices, transmitting and receiving SMS using the allocated IP addresses.SOLUTION: In an embodiment, an IP address may be allocated to an MTC device without activating a packet data protocol (PDP) context. In addition, after the IP address has been allocated, SMS messages may be transmitted from the MTC devices or to the MTC devices by using the IP address.
