Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for transmitting uplink feedback information by a WTRU in a Cell_FACH state.

SOLUTION: A method includes: receiving information from a network which indicates that acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) is supported on a high speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH); transmitting a random access channel (RACH) preamble; and receiving an allocation from a network for a common enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) resource for an uplink transmission in response to the RACH preamble transmission. The allocation includes an acquisition indication (AI) and transmits ACK/NACK feedback via the HS-DPCCH after collision is solved under conditions where a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) transmits dedicated control channel (DCCH) or dedicated traffic channel (DTCH) data and it is indicated that the information received from the network is supported on the HS-DPCCH in which the ACK/NACK uses the allocation for the common E-DCH resource.
