Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for downlink channel parameter determination in a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system.

SOLUTION: A transmission station collects information associated with one or more uplink channels of a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system employed to communicate with at least one receiving station (810). Based at least in part on the information associated with one or more uplink channels channel quality information of a plurality of downlink channels is computed (820). Based at least in part on the channel quality information one or more downlink channel parameters which are used by the transmission station to transmit signals to the at least one receiving station via the one or more downlink channels are determined (830). Based at least in part on the downlink channel parameters a subscriber station is selected (840) and communication is made (850).
