Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting a happy bit on E-DPCCH.

SOLUTION: A determination is made whether or not a predetermined criterion is satisfied a happy bit is set to unhappy when the predetermined criterion is satisfied and when MAC-i/is is constituted a determination is made whether or not the criterion has a power sufficient for a WTRU(wireless transmission and reception unit) to transmit at a higher data rate. The determination whether or not the criterion has a power sufficient for a WTRU to transmit at a higher data rate is to identify an E-TFC having a transport block size that is larger at least x bits than the transport block size of an E-TFC currently selected for transmission in the same TTI(transmission time interval) as the happy bit and to determine whether an E-TFC thus identified is supported based on the same power offset as the E-TFC currently selected.
