Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving a packet via HSDPA.

SOLUTION: A method for receiving a packet via high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) comprises steps of: receiving a plurality of HSDPA medium access control (MAC-hs) protocol data units (PDUs) each of which comprises at least one segment of a MAC-hs service data unit (SDU); storing segments of the MAC-hs SDU for reassembly; setting a timer that is set every time a segment that is part of the MAC-hs SDU is received; and discarding the stored segments of the MAC-hs SDU on a condition that the timer expires before at least one of the segments of the MAC-hs SDU has been received.
