Abstract  Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for transmitting uplink feedback information by a WTRU in a CELL_FACH state.

SOLUTION: Uplink feedback information such as CQI and HARQ ACK/NACK information may be transmitted to the UTRAN by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). An E-DCH resource for UL transmission is received assignment of contention-free access is received and a configuration from the network to send UL feedback information is also received. In a different embodiment uplink feedback information is transmitted on the basis of existence of at least a predetermined condition that is explicit and implicit triggers.
