Abstract  Abstract

Cell update (and reselection) while in Cell FACH state. After selection of the target cell, system information is read from the target cell including high speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) common system information. The radio network temporary identification information (RNTI) received in the source cell is cleared and the variable HS_DSCH_RECEPTION is set to TRUE. An HS-DSCH media access control (MAC-hs) entity is configured based on HS-DSCH common system information. A high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) transmission is then received in the target cell. A CELL UPDATE message is sent to notify the cell change. HSDPA transmissions can be received using common H-RNTI broadcasts in system information, H-RNTIs reserved as required in CELL UPDATE messages, or temporary identification information that is a subset of U-RNTI. The MAC-hs entity can be reset. Extended Cell FACH.
