Abstract  Abstract

A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving common and dedicated logical channel transmissions via HS-DSCH (High Speed Downlink Shared Channel) is disclosed. A MAC (Medium Access Control) -hs entity generates a MAC-hs PDU (Protocol Data Unit) that carries MAC-c / sh / m PDUs and / or MAC-d PDUs. UE-specific H-RNTI (HS-DSCH Radio Network Temporary Identifier) can be used for MAC-d PDUs and cell-specific H-RNTI is used for MAC-c / sh / b PDUs. Is possible. Alternatively, cell specific H-RNTI and either C-RNTI (cell RNTI) or U-RNTI (Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network RNTI) may be used in the Cell_FACH state. The logical channel type and logical channel ID may be inserted in the MAC-hs PDU header or indicated by a separate H-RNTI. The logical channel type for the common logical channel can be identified in the MAC-c / sh / m PDU header. The logical channel type and logical channel ID can be identified by a queue ID.
