The present invention relates to a method for providing a real-time broadcast service in a mobile communication system, adding a broadcast service layer to a radio access network having an original service layer, and setting a dedicated carrier wave or a scramble code, Broadcasting a broadcast service to the mobile terminal via the mobile communication network, and operating the mobile terminal in one of the hierarchical modes of the switchable original service and the broadcast service. When using a dedicated carrier, an independent carrier frequency is set in the broadcast service hierarchy, and the mobile terminal controls the handoff and monitors the paging procedure. When the dedicated scramble code is used, the original service layer scramble code and the new dedicated scramble code are used in both the original service and broadcast service layer cells.
