A communication device comprising:
a receiver responsive to a wireless communication signal received from a remote communication device the receiver being configured to:
generate a large matrix codebook based at least in part on one or more perceived characteristics of the received wireless communication signal for quantization and communication back to a source of the received signal the receiver being further configured to:
select a suitable small matrix codebook based at least in part on the one or more characteristics of the received signal; and
combine the small codebook with one or more additional codewords to generate the large matrix codebook the one or more additional codewords comprising fine matrix codewords.
