Abstract  Abstract

A method for improving charging rules in packet data services includes the following steps: assigning the ID information for identifying charging rules information; TPF storing the ID information provided by CRF, the ID information being used for identifying charging rules, service data flow filter or the service data flow filter in charging rules. Thus, when CRF provides operation indication and ID information to TPF, TPF can correctly operate charging rules or services data flow filter based on the ID information. It makes charging in packet data services better and reasonable. An another method for modifying or adding new charging rules avoids the redundant information transmission between CRF and TPF, thus the information flow load between CRF and TPF is reduced greatly. In addition, the invention provides a mechanism in which TPF can return the operation response to CRF and thereby CRF can know the state of TPF in performing the operation.
