Abstract  Abstract

A wireless communication system comprising: at least one user device (UE); a first wireless communication link; a second wireless communication link; and an advanced universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) comprising: a source cell / node B connected to the UE prior to the handover over the first wireless communication link; and a target cell / Node B which, after handover has begun, is connected to the UE via a second wireless communication link, wherein the source cell / Node B transmits a handover command message to the UE over the first wireless communication link when the E-UTRAN determines in that it is time to perform a handover and the UE sets the uplink transmission timing based on information contained in the handover command message when sending a first transmission to the target cell / node B directly after the handover over the second wireless communication link.
