Disclosed are a paging method and device, the method being configured to be executed by a location management function (LMF) device, the method comprising: an access network device sending paging auxiliary information corresponding to a terminal device to a core network device, the paging auxiliary information is used for assisting the core network equipment in determining the first paging packet information when the terminal equipment is in the idle state. Therefore, whether the terminal equipment is in the inactive state or the idle state, the core network equipment and the access network equipment are ensured to have consistent understanding on the paging information of the terminal equipment, so that the probability of paging failure is reduced, and the power consumption of the terminal equipment is reduced.
