Abstract  Abstract

The invention relates to a generalized reference signaling scheme for mu-mimo using arbitrarily precoded reference signals. The invention claims a multi-user MIMO downlink beamforming system (200) for enabling the emitting beamforming vectors to be efficiently provided to a subset of user equipment devices (201.i) wherein the base station (210) position calculating spatial separation or zero-forcing emitting wave beam former (VIII) and used to generate pre-coded reference signal (216). precoding a reference signal (216) is fed forward to the user equipment devices (201.i) the user device (201.i) to the pre-coded reference signal one or more hypothesis tests (207.i 208.i) to extract comprising an apparatus to be designed for user specific emitting beam-forming vector (wUE) of the precoding matrix (W) and the extracted information is used to generate receive beamformer (vi).
