Abstract  Abstract

The invention claims a method and device for enhancement type general packet radio service 2 uplink (HUGE) time-based fast positive acknowledgement (ACK) /negative acknowledgement (NACK) reporting (FANR) operation. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) configures downlink FANR operation and an EGPRS-2 mode uplink transmission to make them not to be in conflict. may be the modulation and coding scheme for the EGPRS-2 mode (MCS) is limited to an MCS containing at most two RLC data blocks. Alternatively if an EGPRS-2 mode is configured the three or more piggybacked ACK/NACK (PAN) bits may be used for a time-based FANR operation. Alternatively at least one PAN bit may indicate an ACK/NACK for a group of RLC data blocks. a time-based FANR operation number of PAN bits may be configured by the network. downlink FANR operation may be dynamically switched between based on SSN and based on time.
